Electro Harmonix' Op-Amp Big Muff Pi is a fuzz effects pedal that gives you the same sound that Smashing Pumpkins used on their epic 1993 album 'Siamese Dream'. The pedal uses op-amps instead of resistors and has three gain stages. While it recreates the same sound as the original 1978 Op-Amp Big Muff pedal, it's a lot more affordable and features modern enhancements as well. The die-cast chassis is compact and the pedal is true bypass, for instance. Apart from that, it still features the familiar tone, sustain and volume controls.

Geweldig pedaal die zowel de tones van de pumpkins super goed kan repliceren maar wat me nog blijer maakt is dat je zoveel goede distortion en gain eruit kan halen dat je heel veel genres hun klanken makkelijk kan nabootsen. Heb zelf veel geluk gehaald uit pop punk en post hard core tones repliceren.
Versatile pedaaltje dus. Zeker aan te raden als je een goeie fuzz zoekt die meer dan een tone kan maken

Een fuzz met een heel eigen sound.
In tegenstelling tot de reguliere transistor-based Big Muffs neigt de Op-amp variant meer naar een distortion-achtig geluid.
Iets scherper en scheller, bijna een RAT-achtige sound.
Wel met die typische midscoop in de tonecontrol, al zijn er in de tone control wat sweet spots te vinden.
Daarnaast kan je met de toggle de tonecontrol uitschakelen, en dan blijken er opeens wat midfrequenties door te komen.
Zet er een EQ-pedaal achter en je kan ineens heel veel kanten uit.

Na veel video's online te kijken en een indruk te krijgen van dit pedaal toch de keuze gemaakt en besteld. Wat een MUUR VAN GELUID!!! Ontzettend vette Fuzz welke op vele manieren in te stellen is. Hou je van de grunge sound uit de '90s als Nirvana, Foo Fighters en The Smashing Pumpkins, dan MOET JJE DIT PEDAAL HEBBEN!

Goede, degelijke en stevige big muff. De originele 70'er jaren op amp big muff is natuurlijk niet te krijgen danwel onbetaalbaar. Dus - na een paar reviews te hebben gelezen/bekeken - dan deze maar genomen. Nou, hij doet precies waar ik (in ieder geval) hem voor aangeschaft heb: de Siamese Dream sound!

Doet exact wat het zegt op het doosje : "your pumpkin pi". Even wat zoeken met de (eenvoudige) instellingen en de EQ op je amp maar dan instant de "wall of sound" van siamese dream.
Zoals alle Big Muff's vind ik hem wel het best klinken met single coil pickups. Voor humbuckers neem ik liever een distortion.
