General
The Dark Energy series is part of Paiste's flagship Signature series and they live up to their name; they sound dark but full of energy. So does this Mark 1 hihat, which consists of a medium thin top and an extra heavy bottom cymbal, made of Proprietary Signature Bronze. The result is a full, rich, but definitely dark sound with a wide tonal palette. Closed, it delivers excellent articulation with quick response. The semi-open sound is full, but also sharp and cutting. The chick sound is full and crispy. All in all, a versatile hihat with raw energy. This model has a 15-inch diameter.
