You may not immediately know the name Alan Parsons, but the chances that you have heard music in which Parsons was the engineer are rather huge. 'Music' by John Miles, work by the Beatles, Pink Floyd, his own Alan Parsons Project and many others. This same Parsons has been at the knobs of IK Multimedia Alan Parsons Imperial Grand, a mighty grand piano in virtual form. This Bösendorfer Model 290, which is in Mark Knopfler's studio, was recorded at eight velocity steps, using equally impressive microphones (AKG C12 and Neumann U67). The result is a highly playable piano for, in fact, every conceivable purpose.
