For years, AKG has been an evocative name in the world of studio microphones. Designed and manufactured in Vienna, the condenser microphones are scattered around top studios worldwide. The C 414 series has been around for a long time and this reincarnation, the C 414 XLS, builds on the merits of the high-quality series. Complete with shockmount, pop filter and windshield, this Austrian studio microphone is the vital link between the performers and your recorder.
One of the strengths of the C 414 is its versatility. Nine different modes are available, to adapt the directional characteristics to any situation. From omnidirectional to figure 8 and four "in-between" modes: this large-diaphragm microphone has it all. The sound character leans on that of the legendary C 414 B-ULS, a highly successful predecessor. The 414 XLS offers a modern design, with a linear frequency response and a neutral sound. This makes the 414 a true reference microphone, capturing acoustic instruments extremely naturally.
To efficiently get the right response in the studio, the C 414 XLS features switchable signal levels and low-cut filters. Also, the directional characteristic is knob-adjustable, with an LED indicator showing which mode is selected. An alert peak LED provides lightning-fast reflection on sound pressure. When the C 414 XLS is permanently installed, all setting options are of course easy to bypass. With a dynamic range of no less than 152 dB, you can handle all kinds of environments and line-ups.
