General
Because of their 'magic' sound, microphones built during the first half of the last century are fiercely sought after. But, according to Matt McGlynn, the founder of Roswell Pro Audio, that 'magic' has less to do with age and more to do with the right components. Thanks to the very specific build of the Roswell Mini K47 large diaphragm condenser microphone, sound is captured with the warm and detailed quality that you could only previously get with an eye-wateringly expensive antique classic, but still boasts the low-noise and distortion levels that you can only get with a modern design. Unlike the sixties-era German-made original this mic has been based on, the Mini K47 doesn't feature any valves and the output is electronically balanced rather than relying on a transformer. The Mini K47 also saves you the precious time that would usually be spent messing with de-essers and EQ levels simply because there is zero trace of sharpness within the higher-mid frequencies - a definite plus when you're working with drums and pianos. This stereo pair has been hand-matched in the Roswell headquarters in California.
