In our humble opinion, this Hear Technologies Switch Back PLUS is well worth a look; it’s an interface, mixer and MIDI surface all in one product. You’re probably familiar with the typical live or studio rack setup: a Dante interface here, a monitor mixer there, and then a MIDI controller somewhere in between for your outboard gear or software. The Switch Back PLUS brings all that together without compromising on anything. Just one Cat6 cable to a PoE+ switch and you’re connected to the Dante network – and it doesn’t matter whether that’s a FOH console or a laptop with a Dante Virtual Soundcard. Set up several of them and you can decentralise your entire I/O, or give every band member their own monitor mix without needing a separate headphone mixer for each person. This isn’t the device for someone who’s ‘just looking for an interface’. It’s for the engineer who sets up a fully decentralised monitor system with just one device per band member, for the studio that already uses Dante as its backbone and wants MIDI control thrown in for free, and for anyone who knows that ‘all-in-one’ usually means a compromise – except here!
