Deze Hear Technologies Switch Back PLUS verdient wel enige aandacht, naar onze bescheiden mening; het is een Interface, mixer én MIDI-surface in één product. Je kent vast het typische live-of-studio rack wel: een Dante-interface hier, een monitormixer daar, en dan nog een MIDI-controller ergens tussenin voor je outboard of software. De Switch Back PLUS brengt dat dus samen zonder ergens water bij de wijn te doen. Eén Cat6-kabel naar een PoE+ switch en je zit in het Dante-netwerk, en of dat nu een FOH-console is of een laptop met Dante Virtual Soundcard maakt niet uit. Zet er meerdere neer en je decentraliseert je hele I/O, of je geeft iedere bandmuzikant zijn eigen monitormix zonder dat er een aparte hoofdtelefoonmixer per persoon nodig is. Dit is niet het ding voor iemand die "gewoon een interface" zoekt. Dit is voor de engineer die met één apparaat per bandlid een volledig gedecentraliseerd monitorsysteem opzet, voor de studio die Dante al als ruggengraat gebruikt en er MIDI-controle gratis bij wil, en voor iedereen die weet dat "alles in één" normaal een compromis betekent - behalve hier!
