General

The D'Angelico Excel 16 is a modern nod to the glory days of the New York jazz scene. With its elegant 16-inch body and vintage look, this archtop model feels like coming home to any jazz guitarist who loves warmth, character and tradition. The slightly slimmer body depth (2.75 inches) makes the guitar surprisingly manageable without compromising on that full, woody sound you would expect from a classic archtop. The comfortable neck with a slightly thicker C-shape and 12-inch fingerboard radius strikes a fine balance between robustness and playability. This makes it an excellent choice for long sets or refined solo work.

Exel 16 with Seymour Duncan

Whether you're playing solo or in an intimate setting with a small ensemble, the Excel 16 always delivers a rich, nuanced sound. Thanks to the floating-mounted Seymour Duncan Johnny Smith mini-humbucker, the acoustic resonance of the top surface is fully preserved. This pickup setup is perfect for the traditional jazz enthusiast who loves dynamics, subtlety and a transparent soundstage. The Excel 16 is designed for the serious guitarist looking for a familiar feel, modern playability and a sound that cuts effortlessly through the mix. Comes complete with a deluxe hardshell case.
