If you're looking for a high-pitched snare drum that is full of energy and life, then look no further than the 14 x 3.5-inch Pearl FTBB1435 Free Floating Task Specific piccolo snare drum. Pearl's Free Floater technology makes sure that the shells are not muffled by the hardware. The snare floats free, so to speak, which gives it a lot more room to resonate, which in turn improves the sound. Though the piccolo snare may be quite a high-pitched instrument, Pearl really wrestles every inch of depth out of the FTBB1435. With its 6-ply birch shell the snare has quite a powerful and deep sound - perhaps deeper than you would expect its 3.5 inches allow it to be.
