Genelec 8020D (2x) + Monitor Calibration, Stands and Cables

A well thought out and useful product that can help you 'understand' the room you are working in. It's results were not as 'impactful' as I thought they would be as ultimately you have to 'get used' to how a room sounds but well worth it.

Amazing product, working in an untreated room and this has been a game changer

The Genelec 8020D speakers are phenomenally good; they easily compete with much larger, beefier studio monitors, in detail and presence. I wanted an audiophile-quality setup for my workstation, with the accuracy and detail needed for post-production film work and a flat response for audio production. These deliver on both fronts, and are a pleasure to use for casual and critical listening.

The speakers are very easy to setup and delivered an accurate, detailed and full sound, even prior to making adjustments for the room (via easily accessible switches on the back of each monitor).

The mids are clear and forward, highs have presence and clarity and the bass is surprisingly commanding for a 4” woofer, yet overall the response is wonderfully transparent and free from colouration. Of course, you could EQ them to suit your tastes and add the 7040A subwoofer to boost the bass presence even further. The small footprint is perfect for my home studio, with a 160cm desk, dual 4k monitors and array of desk equipment, from mics and audio interfaces to Wacom tablets and camera mounts. The Genelecs do have marmite aesthetics - it’s a look I’ve grown fond of - but if you’re on the fence, their diminutive form means they don’t overpower your workspace.

If you’re looking for professional grade, unparalleled audio performance, have limited space but don’t want to compromise on quality, or you’re an audiophile looking to get the best from your lossless music - these are the speakers for you. The shopping experience with Bax was excellent. Fast delivery, robust packaging and great communication from customer services when I had queries. I’m one happy customer and will no doubt be shopping from Bax again in the (very) near future!

This is the first time I've bought Genelec monitors and I have to say they are fantastic speakers! I only have a small space to work in so I decided to go with the 8020D's. I have to admit I was a little apprehensive about the 3.5” bass speaker, (and the price!), but was pleasantly surprised how good they are. These speakers are excellent even at relatively low volumes, so if you're working like me at home (and aren't allowed to drive your family crazy!), then I highly recommend them. However, they are relatively expensive compared to the competition. I was tempted by the Adam A3x's and the KRK RP7 G4's but after taking a leap of faith I am more than happy with the Genelec's.
