These days, many project studios are generally quite compact, focused and efficient, so this Genelec 7040A active studio subwoofer fits right in. It's modest in size and suits the Genelec 8010, 8020 and M030 studio monitors to a T. Genelec utilises the 7040A's special Laminar Spiral Enclosure technology, which is the result of a decade of research.
Features of the Genelec 7040A
With a deep, 6.5-inch woofer, this sub is perfect for pop music in particular. Use dip switches to calibrate the sub with great precision depending on the acoustics of the room it's in. With an SPL of 100 dB, you can achieve the low frequencies you want and the optimal balance.

Ik heb deze gekocht als aanvulling, maar ben niet 100% tevreden. De range is mij net iets te beperkt (30 tot 80 hz), waardoor er net een gat ontstaat met mijn Genelec 3010A speakers, ik ga m dus ook omruilen voor een wat zwaardere versie van Genelec, met range van 15 tot 150.
Goed kijken naar je range dus, voor de rest goede kwaliteit.

Een mooie hard houten kast van ca. 50x50x15cm groot, op het hoge Genelec niveau afgewerkt.
De sub filtert het inkomende audiosignaal zodat de aangesloten monitoren geen lage frequenties meer weergeven waardoor bij hogere volumes de monitor woofers niet meer overstuurt kunnen raken. Dit geeft in zijn geheel een rustiger meer zuiver geluidsbeeld waarbij de sub de lage tonen op goed niveau aanvult.
Ook de sub kent net als de Genelec monitoren een aantal dipswitch instellingen en een volume instelling op het actieve filter om de juiste aanpassing voor de toegepaste configuratie in te stellen.
In mijn geval heb ik de 7040 sub gecombineerd met een setje 8020 monitoren. Dit is een prima combinatie voor kleine tot middel grote studio's waarbij je relatief dicht op het geluid zit.
Voor de echte Genelec freaks is dit vast en zeker ook een mooie setup voor in de woonkamer naast de TV.

Kleine maar krachtige sub van uitstekende kwaliteit. Ontworpen voor kleine ruimtes maar zou in grotere ruimtes ook nog prima functioneren. Hij is ook zeer nauwkeurig instelbaar met drie fase standen en twee lowcut standen. De handleiding bevat nog enkele handige tips om de sub af te stemmen op je monitors.

Erg blij met de aankoop. De subwoofer valt robuuster en groter uit dan ik had verwacht. De Genelec bouw- en geluidskwaliteit druipt er af. Het toestel overtreft mijn verwachtingen helemaal. Gekocht ter aanvulling van mijn Genelec 8020 setje. Prima resultaat bij lage en hoge volumes.
