Kali Audio LP-UNF Active Studio Monitors (Set of 2)
Very impressive set of speakers and exactly what I was looking for.
I don't mix but am a professional string arranger and remote session musician, so it's important that I can hear what I'm working on clearly and without too much colour. These speakers are billed as giving an immersive feel, and they certainly do that. I've never heard a set of near field monitors before that sound so clear.
Some other good points:
Front ported, so no problem mounting them in a tight space.
Very useful pre-programmed EQ options to compensate for various positioning scenarios. This really works.
Mute and volume controls on the FRONT! This is so obvious but plenty of manufacturers have stuff on the rear.
One gripe:
The interconnecting cable is too short. Yes, it's long enough to connect the two speakers at the distance they were designed for, but it'd be better if there was a bit more play in it. You can get hold of longer cables, but you have to buy them separately.
