If you get into the world of surround mixing, for example the increasingly popular Dolby Atmos, you know you need serious gear. Merely just any studio monitor, or a studio subwoofer, is more the domain of the simple studio. A sub for example, for such a mega large mixing project, could be the Neumann KH 810 II. Lots of inputs, via D-Sub, so your 7.1.4 mix goes from this sub to your satellites. The sub itself pops nicely, with frequencies dipping below the audible. You can feel the KH 810 II, which makes it a great subwoofer for the biggest mixes imaginable. Think film music and film-foley. If you are not into such large surround mixes, but just have a regular studio, then the 'simpler' Neumann KH 805 II is a slightly more logical choice to make.
