The Korg miniKORG 700Sm is the slightly smaller version of the 700FS that appeared in 2021. This synthesiser is overwhelmingly a remake of a model from another era. The original miniKorg 700S came from 1974 and was aimed at organ players. This little keyboard was then on top of an organ, which is why controls are also on the front. How vintage/retro do you want it to be! It is precisely this old dated layout that has its charm, and that is generally true of vintage synths. At least here, in this era of remakes, we have the manufacturer himself making such a remake!

Features of the Korg miniKORG 700Sm

As befits such a modern remake, you also get today's features. Presets, a joystick, MIDI and USB-MIDI. Above all: it's all anno today, rather than half a century of dust and untraceable replacement components. With this synth, don't expect a common distribution of parameters; this was (and so: is) a synth from a time when organ players by no means understood all the synthesis jargon. It doesn't have all the usual synth parameters, and what it does have may well have a name you have to get used to. Nevertheless, the Korg miniKORG 700Sm is all charm! And since organs are still being made (the B3 does not get any rest either and keeps popping up in various remakes), there is still a reason to use a small keyboard like this 700Sm.
