The Sequential Take 5 (the keyboard version) has proved to be a popular synth since its release. And it's not so strange: Sequential simply has a big historical name in this world. A real analogue synth with many controls is always good. Slightly cheaper even than many other analogue synths in this class, but if you still need or want to take a financial step down, you can consider the Sequential Take 5 Module. Basically the same device, but without a keyboard. If you already have a good keyboard, this is an easy sacrifice, at a more competitive price.

Features of the Sequential Take 5 Module

We're talking about a nicely subtractive synth with a polyphony of five. On the one hand, that might be just one or three voices too few for polyphonic requirements, such as chords with a slightly longer release in the envelopes. On the other hand, that sonic release can also be more or less worked up by the effects section. So looking at it that way, it doesn't have to be a big 'problem'. Furthermore: all the possibilities a synth nerd could wish for: two main oscillators per voice, which together offer sync and FM capabilities. Furthermore, a sub-oscillator and noise. A warm 24 db filter, two filters and two LFOs, and a very potent modulation matrix.

Sound

All well and good, but how does it sound? That answer is simple: great! Clearly influences from the legendary Prophets. Raw or subtle, it just depends on what you want to make with it. And the fast interface makes creating sounds easy, so it's a great synth for critical sound designers. This is helped by a simulation of the old vintage instability. This used to be a problem when oscillators went all over the place - and of course always when you are on stage with a thousand eyes on you. But if you do it subtly and in a controlled way, it adds a lot of richness to the sound. Long story short: this is just a very nice synthesiser!
