As a manufacturer of high-quality audio components, API introduced the well-known 500 format. Initially, this was intended for their modular mixing consoles but gradually the demand for loose use increased. For this purpose, the Lunchbox series was designed. This 6-slot Lunchbox is the first model developed by API for this purpose. The 500-6B is intended for mobile use, which is immediately apparent from its handle. It features a high-quality, built-in power supply, ensuring high quality. Ideal for combining different brands in one enclosure!

API 500-6B: overview

Actually, this Lunchbox functions only as an enclosure and as a power supply. But then it does that well. High sound quality starts with a good power supply! The built-in power supply provides a stable 16V for the modules and a separate 48V phantom power supply. This allows the six modules to perform optimally even with a high load. The last two modules can be used in stereo. Especially for this, they are equipped with two inputs and outputs per module. Its handle makes it easy to carry.

Application

The API 500-6B rack is ideal for using different modules from different manufacturers. You have the possibility to combine well-known brands at your own discretion according to the sound you are looking for. At the rear, you will find balanced XLR inputs and outputs for each module. These are mounted at such a distance from each other that attaching cables is no problem at all. This rack is suitable for all 500-sized modules.
