Broadcasting engineers have been practically begging Allen & Heath for an improved version of the popular XB-14, a compact radio/broadcasting mixer. The enhanced, versatile XB-14 MKII can be used in small broadcasting stations as well as larger studios with multiple rooms. Improvements include a special Audition bus, improved stereo channel configurations, an updated microphone preamp and additional versatile monitoring options. The device itself features a matte finish that stops light reflecting on it, which is ideal in brightly lit studios.

XB-14 MKII: Telco channels and high-pass/low-pass filters

The Allen & Heath XB-14 MKII is a versatile, innovative solution for all-round applications that require high quality. This radio mixer features two Telco channels for live phone calls and is also fitted with an automatic microphone fader that recognises external connection and automatically mutes internal audio. New high-pass/low-pass filters have replaced the original Telco EQ, making this function more user-friendly. The audio quality of phone calls is better maintained, as certain frequencies are excluded. Improved preamps with a low-noise design are also featured. Via the multiple headphone outputs, you can provide your radio presenter and sound engineer with an optimal monitoring sound.

Special Audition bus

The XB-14 MKII has a special audio bus, which allows you to record items during your radio broadcast for later transmission. You can also pre-listen to the broadcast, to more accurately gauge the remaining time. The USB connector allows you to connect the XB-14 MKII to your computer, after which you can use specific audio software for broadcasting applications. Lang gezocht naar een goede vervanger voor mijn Behringer MX1602A. Dat is electronisch gezien een mixertje waar bijna geen andere tafel tegenop kan. Zeer goede signaal ruis verhouding. was nu op zoek naar een tafel met wat meer broadcastfuncties en vond de XB-14-2 van Allen & Heath. Tot op heden bevalt die erg goed. Degelijk gebouwd, goede signaal ruis verhouding. Bediening met 100mm schuiven is een verademing. Voor het starten van mijn CD- en MD spelers en computer apps met de startknoppen op de XB-14-2, ben ik nog bezig met een interfacekastje. Daarin neem ik optocouplers op om de externe apparatuur volledig galvanisch te scheiden van de mixer. Verder gebruik ik 2 mono kanalen ge-panned naar L en R voor mijn tuner en de beide kalen voor telefoon of voip aansluiting gebruik ik vooralsnog om een tablet aan te sluiten die fungeert als jingle machine.
Bax-shop kwam bij mijn zoektocht op internet naar voren als de voordeligste leverancier en de levering was binnen 24 uur. Top!
