General

The new Adam 77H has an improved build and features a built-in DSP chip for unerring performance. This high-end A-Series studio monitor follows in the footsteps of the AxX models and falls between the popular T-Series and the top-shelf S-Series on the Adam-made studio monitor tier list. Granted, it's by no means cheap, but the price-to-quality-ratio of the A77H is undeniably solid.

Features of the Adam A77H

You're looking at an MTM-style studio monitor. Unlike traditional woofer-tweeter speakers, this model comes loaded with two woofers and a tweeter (hence MTM or mid-tweeter-mid), plus an additional mid-driver, which essentially turns the Adam A77H into a 3-way monitor armed with four points of projection. The result is an ultra-efficient division of labour and a tighter transient bass response, since the three woofers are focussed solely on the lows and mids while the ribbon-tweeter takes care of the highs. If the technical side of things isn't your cup of tea, just trust us - it doesn't get much better than this, and we're not even done yet...

Sonarworks

Not even the most expensive studio monitor can deliver truly honest audio if the acoustics of the room aren't up to snuff. Fortunately, the Adam A77H features a built-in Sonarworks filter which can be combined with the highly praised Sonarworks software and a measurement microphone (not included) to analyse the listening space and draw up a custom graphic EQ based on the measurements to compensate for any suboptimal acoustics. That EQ comes in the form of a DAW effect, or in this case a custom Sonarworks profile that can be uploaded to the monitor to prepare it for flawless performance anywhere - another supreme argument to invest in the Adam A-Series.

Ik heb de monitoren nog niet heel lang in gebruik, maar ik kan wel al zeggen; WOW wat een power!

Na jaren gewerkt te hebben met de Adam's TV7's was het tijd voor een upgrade. Toen ik de speakers voor het eerst aansloot klonk het geluid nog niet helemaal hoe het moest zijn, ook na tweaken op de achterkant van de monitoren dacht ik; ik mis een aantal frequenties. Dit kan liggen aan de ruimte natuurlijk, hoe goed de akoestiek is maar ook de afstand van de speakers tot de muren. Gelukkig had ik de speakers in combinatie met SoundID Reference gekocht.

Na de metingen van SoundID en een beetje tweaken was dit echt een wereld van verschil. Ik zou deze monitoren daarom ook aanraden in combinatie met Sound ID Reference. Het mixen gaat lekker zo, maar ook het luisteren van muziek is een geweldige beleving.

Pluspunten:
- Power op alle frequenties, een externe sub is overbodig;
- Integratie met Sound ID, zo kan ik mijn geluidsprofiel naar de speakers laden (en hoef ik geen Sound ID plugin te laden in mijn DAW);
- Relatief laag in prijs, vergeleken met andere mid-field monitoren;
- Product ziet er geweldig uit;

Minpunten:
- Er zitten boorgaten aan de onderkant van de speakers om ze vast te zetten op een statief. Maar vaak vallen de gaten in de statieven anders. Hiervoor kun je een zogeheten 'mounting plate' aanschaffen van ADAM Audio zelf. Die vind ik erg prijzig voor een koppelstukje, Jammer dat dit niet standaard bij de monitoren zit.

En wat een service van Bax, omdat mijn studio nog niet helemaal af was (duurde langer dan verwacht) kon ik de speakers nog niet goed testen. Bax heeft hiervoor een uitzondering gemaakt in het aantal retourdagen. En omdat het toch een flinke uitgave is, stelde dit mij gerust. Niet dat ik de speakers nog terug wil doen, maar toch fijn dat een bedrijf meedenkt!

Een heerlijke studio monitor die ik persoonlijk zowel near-field als mid-field gebruik. Ik hoor nu zoveel meer detail en nuance tijdens het produceren. En alles wat ik hoor komt vanuit het signaal en ik hoef nu niet te twijfelen of het een bijgeluid van de speaker zelf is.

Jaren geknutseld met basstraps, Sonarworks, strak signaalpad en andere trucs om het geluid in mijn studio zo goed mogelijk te krijgen. Ik dacht dat het een eind op de goede weg was zo met mijn KRK VXT6 set tegenover me. En toen kwamen vorige week deze klappers van monitor speakers even presenteren hoe alles hóórt te klinken.
Ik zit als een heuse audiofiel de hele week al grijnzend van plezier alles te luisteren waar ik gek op ben en ik hoor zo enorm veel nieuws tussen, onder, boven naast en in de nootjes dat ik hier waarschijnlijk nooit genoeg van ga krijgen.
Het is me wel duidelijk dat ik vanaf nu eindelijk echt volledig kan horen wat ik aan het doen ben. Geen concessies, zeker met de ingebouwde DSP om de laatste akoestische hobbeltjes af te vlakken.
Ik heb meteen wat online mix cursussen opgeduikeld om het onderste uit deze hele diepe pan te halen.
Eén groot feest.

na jaren met een sub en monitors van krk te hebben gedraaid
werd het tijd voor wat nieuws dus deze besteld .
zodra je de stroom erop zet en Ableton laat spelen hoor je direct waar je fouten in de afmix zitten.
verbluffende audio kwaliteit, tezamen met Duitse degelijkheid , een best wel hoge uitgave maar dat maakt het geluid uit de monitor meer dan goed.
