General

Built exclusively for bassists, the Valeton Dapper Bass multi-effect unit lays all of the essential tools and effects at your feet, kitting you out with everything you need to rehearse, gig and even record - all in one go. The Dapper lines up five different sections: a chorus, an octaver, a Q-filter with some added fuzz, a compressor combined with a booster and, lastly, a complete bass amp section where your foundation sound can be fully sculpted via detailed three-band EQ controls as well as volume and gain controls.

The Valeton Dapper Bass: Super-Compact, Super-Flexible

Over in the Octave section, you can mix your dry bass sound with two different octaves to really pack out the low-end and make the ground shake. In the aptly named Dirty Q section, the Sens control pot can be tweaked to set the filter response to your playing dynamics and, as soon you flip the Fuzz toggle switch, your sound is immediately given a thick coat of spiky distortion. The modulation depth of the built-in chorus can be adjusted to taste while, over in the Boost Comp section, you can set both the gain and the compression level as preferred. Thinking of everything, this Valeton creation can be neatly teamed up with the rest of your pedal collection via the fitted effects loop and, to support professional rigs, even comes fitted with a balanced XLR output and a handy Thru output.

Erg fijn en afdoende voor de belangrijkste controle en effect functies. Ook als opname di xlr helemaal prima.

Mooi compact en stevig apparaat!! Dit is een prima bruikbaar effect en zeker voor deze prijs. Ik gebruik de compressor om een fretloze basgitaar meer als een contrabas te laten (door)klinken. De Dirty Q komt dicht in de buurt van Justin Timberlake's basgeluid in "Can't stop the feeling" en is goed bruikbaar voor dit soort effecten. Chorus ondanks slechts 1 knop prima instelbaar. Chorus + octaver klinkt als Pino Palladino, als je dat kan spelen tenminste :-) Met de Bassamp heb ik met name mijn passieve fretloze bas wat meer body gegeven en je kan de Bassamp ook vrij subtiel laten vervormen met de vol./gain instellingenmix. Verder verklaart alles zichzelf en hoef je geen patches te programmeren dus super makkelijk.

Alleen de Fuzz optie op de dirty Q vind ik minder klinken en het stemapparaat is met 3 ledjes wel lastig om te zien hoeveel je "vals" staat tot de gewenste toon. Uit de doos schakelde de Dirty Q eerst niet aan en uit op de schakelaar als ik hem met de hand bediende maar met de voet gaat het goed. De gigantische BAX verpakking om het eigenlijk kleine pakketje heen lijkt mij niet zo duurzaam.
