General

The mighty Boss RC-505 mkII Loop Station is an extensive yet mega-accessible looper set up for vocalists, beatboxers, DJs, and multi-instrumentalists. Five stereo loop tracks are lined up at the ready and come backed up by an array of controls and effects. This gig-ready console has XLR microphone inputs complete with phantom power (so they can take condenser as well as dynamic mics), and 6.35mm jack instrument inputs for hooking up gear like a synths, samplers, keyboards, or guitars. Far-reaching loop options are available alongside a fat bank of effects where up to four input and track effects can be used at the same time.

The Boss RC-505 mkII: Slick Control

The control panel of the Boss RC-505 mkII is made up of clear and large backlit buttons per track that grant slick and fast access to playback, record, loop, and tempo-synch functions, while a set of six effect buttons can be used to quickly add atmosphere where needed. This is the follow-up to the popular RC505, and expands on the same, already solid concept with a stack of 49 input effects and another stack of 53 track effects, while the upgraded faders and mark-back function take things to another level when it comes to smooth and intuitive, performance-focussed operation.

A Practical Setup & Even More Beats

This tabletop loop station can be coupled with the Boss Tone Studio app via a computer or hooked up to other MIDI gear using the fitted MIDI and USB ports - after all, you're essentially looking at a highly-functional external audio interface. 99 save-slots have been provided for each of the five tracks, and over 200 beats come pre-loaded in so you can back up your compositions and keep your timing tight, and can even isolate a beat and send it to the headphone output to serve as a private click-track. Of course, there's far more on offer than can be described here, and all of it comes wrapped up in classic Boss-grade build quality.
