Since this is the brainchild of Ampeg, you already know that the SCR-DI is going to offer way more than just a bass DI box. Tucked away in this somewhat unassuming black box, you'll find a 3-band equaliser and a Scrambler overdrive as well as more than enough diverse handfuls of pure Ampeg tone. Manipulate the drive and blend pots of the Scrambler to reveal an explosive SVT tube-esque overdrive emulation and lay it under the lows of your bass sound. Meanwhile, the Thru output sends clean, uncoloured signal to a second amp as needed.

The SCR-DI: A Mass of Tone and ... a Ground Lift

Customise and shape your tone accurately with the clear and tightly laid out treble (4 kHz), mid (500 Hz) and bass (40 Hz) pots to take full advantage of the sheer number of tonal variations this pedal is capable of producing, then throw in some extra depth and/or definition with the conveniently placed Ultra-Lo and Ultra-Hi switches. And, just in case you're playing a venue where the grid is not exactly grounded, the Ground-Lift switch can be flipped to remove any of that unwanted hum.
