General
Boss Katana amplifiers are as fierce and brutally precise as the name implies, and while it is the smallest member of the Boss Katana squad, the 4" speaker and 7 Watt power capacity of the Katana Mini is just as fearsome as its team mates. Packing enough options for the fresh-faced student guitarist, and compact enough to serve as a warm-up tool for the seasoned pro, this wee amp weighs a nimble 1.2kg and doesn't even need to be plugged in since it can run for up to 7 hours on just six AA batteries. As flexible as it is functional, the Mini can also be powered using a Roland PSB-1U power supply (not included).
The Katana-Mini: Small Yet Mighty
As soon as you jack into this wee amp, it's not tough to dial in a solid sound. First, select one of the three sound profiles on offer: Brown, Crunch, or Clean. While Clean and Crunch probably speak for themselves, the Brown setting delivers a furious and solid overdrive that's not far off that of a burning-hot valve amp. Adjust the distortion and output levels using the Gain and Volume controls, then shape the tone in detail using the 3-band EQ section.
The Handy Wee Side-Kick
Just to really sharpen the edge of the Katana-Mini, a built-in delay complete with Time and Level controls has been provided, so a nice layer of atmosphere can be added to your sound. You can also jam along to your favourite tracks using the fitted AUX input and plug in your headphones and mute the speaker for more private rehearsals. The headphone output even doubles as a recording output. Fully equipped with solid sound and practical features, the Boss Mini-Katana is a more than worthy and undeniably loyal wee side-kick.

Een objectieve beoordeling is moeilijk omdat "line Noise" een grote rol speelt via adapter. Ruilen voor de Mini X geeft dezelfde problemen alleen nog erger omdat sommige gitaarkabels zoals Klotz niet samen kunnen spelen met de Mini zonder veel gebrom. aansluiten via stopcontact is ook een reden voor veel Noise. Gewoon de Mini X kiezen is toch beter voor een beetje meer geld vanwege de goeie accu. Een goeie kabel is voor 50% bepalend voor de overall sound dat wel.

De Boss Katana Mini levert verbazingwekkend luid, vol en crunchy geluid voor zo’n compact en batterijgevoed apparaat. Perfect als oefenamp of voor onderweg, met een indrukwekkende distortion-capability voor z’n formaat!
Minpuntje: batterijen gaan er vrij snel door, je neemt best oplaadbare batterijen of de adapter.

Prima versterker, alleen wel jammer dat je er apart een oplaadsnoer bij moet kopen. Verder een handzaam boxje met een verassend goed geluid, prima om zonder dat het hele huis inclusief de buren je komen villen toch te kunnen oefenen!

Dank aan het personeel van Bax Music Goes voor de manier waarop zij mij op dit fijne vesterkertje hebben gewezen. Direct in de winkel uitgeprobeerd (samen met nog enkele andere mini-versterkers, maar de Boss Katana Mini sprong er echt uit). Een heerlijke versterker voor in kleinere oefenruimtes en voor op de camping.
Geweldig Bax, bedankt voor jullie tip om mij op deze miniversterker van Boss te wijzen. Van deze aankoop heb ik nu al heel veel plezier en zal ik nog meer plezier gaan krijgen.

It works well. I left my old big amp in my hometown before moving to The Netherlands, so this super tiny amp will be easy to travel around with if I ever need to. The amp came with batteries, which was a bit confusing at first, I don't know how long they'll last but I would suggest purchasing it with a cable, which I'll probably do after testing how long these batteries last.
