With the 35 Watt Katana-Air EX combo, Boss doesn't just drop a guitar amplifier complete with a wireless guitar system, but by adding various controllers and downloading the BOSS Tone Studio app, offers up close-to complete wireless control. Add gear like the EV-1-WL expression pedal or FS-1-WL footswitch to the setup and gain cable-free access to various functions; pair a Bluetooth capable device to stream music through the built-in speakers and play along; and fully customise your guitar sound via the BOSS Tone Studio app, which is compatible with both iOS and Android.

The Boss Katana-Air EX: Big Stereo Sound - for Guitar & Bass

This compact combo features two 5 inch speakers housed in a tight cabinet finished with a bass reflex port, supporting full and wide yet tight stereo sound backed up by renowned Katana technology. Five basic sounds come pre-loaded in, but when you start moulding your own custom sounds to shape and save them using the BOSS Tone Studio app, an enormous array of guitar and bass sounds are suddenly on offer. Expand things even further by downloading even more sounds as well as wireless switching settings from the BOSS Tone Exchange community.

Over 60 Effects, Recording Functions + 12 Hours of Playing Time

You're also granted access to more than sixty Boss-grade effects to really butter up the sound of your electric guitar, your electric bass or even your electro-acoustic guitar - that's how flexible the Boss Katana-Air EX combo is. As well as the app, up to six of your own sound profiles can be saved in the amp to be called up later and, via the fitted USB port, the Katana-Air EX can be directly connected to a computer to record to a DAW while the line-outputs can be hooked up to the mixer during gigs and rehearsals. Finishing in style, this amplifier comes including a Boss WL-T wireless transmitter, giving you up to 12 hours of 100% cable-free playing time. The transmitter also features an energy-saving movement sensor which thoughtfully triggers standby mode after a period of inactivity.

Un vrai amplificateur intermédiaire avec un son d'une très bonne qualité et des effets fonctionnels. Le transmetteur fourni avec l'amplificateur, associé à une batterie adaptée (Roland BTY), non fournie, permet une totale liberté sans fil qui est également très agréable. Les possibilités de connexions supplémentaires sont également très appréciables et permettent d'aller vers tous les constituants classiques utilisés aujourd'hui avec ce type d'amplificateur (lecteur MP3, looper, etc.). Bonnes premières impressions. A confirmer dans la durée...

Na me in de materie te hebben verdiept overgegaan tot aanschaf. Ik had hoge verwachtingen. Geïnspireerd worden door een sound en door de huiskamer banjeren met je gitaar zonder gehinderd te worden door snoeren en effectpedalen… 6 presets ingeregeld…doorgaans gebruik ik hoogstens 3 geluiden: clean met modulatie, wat echo en wat reverb / een randje overstuurd met wat echo en reverb / scheur met iets modulatie en echo.
Nou nou… verwachtingen zeker waargemaakt zeg… wat een lekkere sound uit dat kleine doosje. Op huiskamerniveau heerlijk freaken. Geluiden inspireren, dat vond ik dus erg belangrijk. Kan ook erg hard als je wilt. Via Bluetooth audio m’n Cubasis en/of Animoog Z afspelen over de Katana en meerammelen… plenty gitaareffecten om mee te spelen, evt batterijen erin of een accupack aanschaffen…zie ik nu nog geen noodzaak van in…misschien ‘s zomers… Blij met m’n Katana. Ik heb nog nooit zoveel gitaar gespeeld🤷🏼‍♂️🎶. Er was even wachttijd bij Bax, dat wist ik. Levering zoals ik van Bax gewend ben!

Top versterker!
Online is er (vooralsnog) weinig aan reviews te vinden over deze Katana-Air EX, volledig onterecht wat mij betreft. Het doet precies wat je verwacht van een Katana: goede sound en eindeloos veel mogelijkheden.

Het enige nadeel wat ik na een aantal weken gebruik kan bedenken is het ontbreken van een ingebouwde looper, zoals bijvoorbeeld de NUX Mighty Space wél heeft.

Je kunt de Air EX een beetje zien als een mix tussen de kleinere ‘Air’ en een Katana 50 (combo).
De kleinere ‘Air’ heeft niet de kracht en ‘headroom’ die deze EX wél heeft; de Katana 50 heeft niet de draadloze functies die deze Air EX heeft. Kortom; de Air EX is het beste van 2 werelden.

De Air EX is ideaal als je geen 50 watt aan volume nodig hebt, al kán hij wel hard.
Voor de woon- en/of slaapkamer is er momenteel geen betere (practice) amp te koop.
