Traditionally, a mixer has a lot of inputs, but mostly (rotary) knobs and faders, for the simple reason that you need them to control things. The Mackie DL32SE is a fine example of how things can be done differently. In fact, it's a big block with I/O and some processors, you control it with software, with your computer or with your mobile device. The advantage? All those buttons and faders have a price tag, and you save on that now - after all, you're using a device you already have. And for those savings, you do now get a very thicker mixer with nice Onyx+ pre-amps in return!

Features of the Mackie DL32SE

To call the DL32SE just a mixer where the controls are in your mobile device... that doesn't do justice to the many features you get. It's a full-fledged digital mixer, with a compressor and four-band parametric equaliser per channel, and with four fx sockets for reverb, delay and chorus, among others. And let's not forget the cosy 32 inputs, so you could connect a huge band to this if you were to use the DL32SE on stage. You can also use 32 inputs in the studio, for instance if you have a big wall full of synths. In that studio, you can also use the DL32SE as a thick audio interface, and then you can combine that with the software package that comes with it. In short, a very attractive product, and totally up-to-date!
