The MXR Wylde Audio Zakk Sabbath Overdrive (WA44ZS) is a limited-edition overdrive pedal featuring a special Zakk Sabbath-inspired finish: a nod to Zakk Wylde’s tribute to the pioneers of heavy metal. Under the bonnet, you’ll find the same raw, robust drive that Zakk is known for: tight, loud and relentless for both riffs and leads. The controls are nice and straightforward with Output, Tone and Gain, so you can dial in your sound quickly and focus on playing.

Built for heavy riffs and cutting leads

The Gain control lets you set the amount of overdrive, from a solid crunch to a fierce, aggressive drive that cuts through the mix. The Tone control acts as a simple EQ for your overdrive: turn it up for extra bite and presence, or turn it down for a warmer, darker sound. The Output control adjusts the overall volume of the effect, which is handy for levelling your sound or pushing your amp extra hard for more sustain.

Connections and power supply

It’s easy to connect: plug your guitar into the input, connect the output to your amplifier, and use the footswitch to switch the effect on or off (with a red LED indicator). The WA44ZS runs on a single 9V battery (remove the base plate to insert it) or on 9V DC via an adapter such as the Dunlop ECB003, or via an MXR Brick Series power supply. Thanks to hardwire bypass, your signal remains as pure as possible when the pedal is switched off.
