Old Blood Noise Endeavors refer to the Beam Splitter as an Automatic Triple Tracker Distortion, which basically means that it sets you up with three different distortions so you can build an absolutely massive wall of sound that never gets muddy. Featuring a colour-coded control lay-out, this mind-bending distortion is also surprisingly easy to dial in.

The Beam Splitter: Triple-Tracked Wall of Sound

The purple section controls the core hard-clipping sound of this OBNE effects pedal, while the green section is used to steer a soft-clipping or hard-clipping overdrive that has a brighter-and-lighter timbre. The blue controls, meanwhile, are used to dial in a transistor-style drive which comes with a dedicated gain switch. Also, both the green and the blue overdrive include traces of modulation, so don't be surprised when you hear bits of chorus, flanger and even a broken vibrato mixed in with these overdrives. The deviate pot in the middle determines just how much random slivers of chorus, flanger and vibrato are thrown in and, if you hook up your expression pedal, you can even gain full control over this special effect.
