General

Overdrive is an effect that most guitarists can't live without. With Strymon's Sunset Dual Overdrive pedal you get more than double the fun! It has a hybrid design (digital and analogue) and gives you the cream of the crop when it comes classic overdrive effects. In fact, this pedal is really two-in-one and it has no fewer than six different overdrive effects divided over two channels. Each channel has its own level, drive and tone knobs, giving you simple, yet full control over everything the pedal has to offer. There's also a bright switch that can smooth out, balance or boost the higher frequencies.

Sunset Dual Overdrive: Channel A

On channel A, you can choose between Ge (germanium), Texas and Treble overdrive effects. The Ge overdrive combines the relatively soft character of gemanium diodes with a parallel dry signal at lower drive levels. At higher levels, the sound from single-coil pickups is really fattened up. The Texas overdrive has a single stage soft-clipper for smooth and dynamic overdrive that boosts the mids and is perfect for styles like blues. As you'd expect, Treble boosts the high frequencies especially when the tone control is turned up for a tighter signal. With the tone control turned down, you get more low end, making this overdrive effect extremely versatile.

Sunset Dual Overdrive: Channel B

Channel B lets you choose between 2Stage, Hard and JFET overdrive effects. 2Stage combines soft-clipping with hard-clipping for a complex overdrive with a wide gain range, giving you everything from a light crunch to full saturation. The Hard overdrive uses a single hard-clipping circuit which offers plenty of gain and even approaches fuzz when the Drive knob is turned all the way up. Finally, there's JFET which gives you a clean boost for that little bit extra whenever you need it.

Decisions, decisions

There are plenty of other features on the Sunset Dual Overdrive that will help you find your ideal setup and sound. You can choose between True Bypass or Analogue Buffered bypass, for instance, and with the config switch you can control the signal flow, allowing the pedal to run in series, reverse series or parallel. By connecting the optional Strymon MiniSwitch, you can recall your favourite setting and you can add an expression pedal should you wish too. Simply put, the Strymon Sunset Dual Overdrive pedal is extremely versatile and it even it even comes with an adapter.
