General

This 1970 Gibson Les Paul Custom Cherryburst dates from the Norlin period and is loved for its characteristic 'pancake body' and three-ply mahogany neck with volute. The guitar is largely original, including electronics (potentiometers with 029-70 code) and bridge, but has been fitted with some functional upgrades over the decades, such as Gibson diecast tuning machines and a 1977 DiMarzio SDS1 bridge pickup with humbucker/single-coil switching. The saddle pickups have also been replaced with GraphTech saddles and the knobs are more recent Gibson highhat ones. Playing comfort is completed by original frets and an ebony fingerboard. The guitar weighs 4.6 kg and comes in a sturdy rectangular Rockcase case. Add the patina, subtly restored playing marks and a proverbial killer tone - and you have an electric guitar with history, sound and looks.
