As soon as you compare other models in this price-class to the Yamaha Pacifica 612VII X, it get pretty clear pretty quickly that your getting way more for your money. Literally dripping with high-grade components, the comfortably contoured Pacifica-shaped alder body comes armed with a set of Seymour Duncan pickups, a Wilkinson-developed-and-made bridge, and the solid tuning provided by a set of Grover locking tuners and a GraphTech TusQ XL nut.
The Yamaha Pacifica 612VII X: Seymour Duncan Pickups
The undeniably versatile tone of the 612VII X is not just shaped by the humbucker and two-single-coil set up, but the fitted push-pull switch that splits the humbucker to unleash pure single-coil sound. Couple that up with the five-way selector switch and an immense landscape of sound profiles is opened up, each shaped by the definition and balance of Seymour Duncan designed pickups. Since it was first born in the Yamaha custom-shop, the Pacifica Series comes with serious criteria, and this model meets every single one of them.

A magnificent guitar, highly playable, with beautiful versatile tones and ultra comfortable. The clean sound varieties from the 5 way switch with 3 Seymour Duncans are a thing of beauty. The clean sound is so good it's almost a sin to run it through effects, but when the distortion kicks in (the juicier, the better), the singles keep high clarity with the right sound / power balance somewhere between blues and hard rock. When the bridge humbucker goes from split coil to full on, the guitar jumps from blues / rock to metal. The sound variety, both on clean and distorted, is simply incredible and each of them is perfectly balanced. I've been a fan of Pacifica for 30 years and this one feels like their top grade, something impossible to get better than this. The only thing to regret is not getting it sooner - it's a simply wonderful guitar. The tremolo is also great, Grover locking is stone solid and the strings keep in tune.
