Since the original Roland SPD-20 Octapad is already well over 20 years old, it was high time for Roland to treat drummers and percussionists to an upgraded model. The SPD-20 PRO is finally here and offers everything you'd expect from a Roland pad - and then some. With the 'never change a winning pad' recipe in the back of their mind, Roland have given the new Octapad the tried-and-trusted, eight-pad design and lay-out while bringing the overall reliability and build quality up to present-day Roland-grade standards.

In addition to the original palette of sounds, Roland have crammed in various all-new percussion sounds for an even wider range of percussive flavours. The SPD-20 PRO comes loaded with over 900 instruments from all over the world to spark both inspiration and creativity. If that's not enough for you, then it's worth mentioning that the built-in memory provides room for another whopping 200 user kits.

Pad-Linking

Roland have also equipped the new Octapad with a Padlink function that allows you to stack up to four sounds on a single pad. You can even link up different kits to prepare the Octapad for multiple styles, while the backlit LCD display and direct-access controls make editing sounds in real-time practically effortless - even in the midst of a live performance. Besides countless effects, EQ functions and more parameters to tweak, you even have the option to hook up external triggers and expand your digital percussion set-up.
