To say that the DR-40X was a huge stunner of a hit is a huge understatement. That field recorder was astronomically popular, and in itself understandable given its price and capabilities. But the DR-40X is no more; replaced by the latest shoot on the tree: the Tascam DR-40XP field recorder. Is it the same thing? In a way, the XP is quite similar - after all, you let a winning horse run along nicely. But in line with many similar products of late, this XP now also supports 32-bit float. Zonder de kwaliteit van de microfoons en apparatuur goed te kunnen beoordelen, struikelde ik meteen over de 3 AA batterijen die benodigd zijn om het toestel te gebruiken. Deze zijn vrij snel plat (zonder gebruik) en gewoon erg onpraktisch -- ik had gehoopt op een oplaadbare batterij.
