Technology in the Flexsys FM8 floor monitor

The FM8 is chock full of modern technology. This two-way system has an 8-inch woofer in combination with a 1-inch tweeter. Thanks to the 100W class D amplifier, it produces a clear, powerful sound. The FM8 is also equipped with a built-in processor that ensures optimal sound.

Deze heb ik al een hele tijd in gebruik en ze bevallen heel goed. Onze toetsenist heeft ze ook en is er ook erg tevreden over. Ze wegen erg weinig en klinken verrassend vol en krachtig voor hun maat. Er komt nog een behoorlijke stoot laag uit. Ik gebruik ze voor versterking van een AxeFx gitaarprocessor in een band die het podiumvolume niet zo ontzettend hoog opdrijft, oftewel een redelijk gedisciplineerde drummer. De FM8s hebben zat kracht om mezelf prima te kunnen horen. Hij kan rustig nog een aantal tandjes harder. De AxeFx gaat ook over de FOH, dus meer is ook niet nodig. we hebben wel eens met alleen backline gespeeld, maar dat was een erg kleine gelegenheid.

We hebben ze ook geprobeerd als zangmonitors, maar daar kwamen ze wat headroom te kort, het zong te snel rond. Wellicht met wat equalizing te verhelpen, maar die hadden we niet paraat.

Wel had ik er per ongeluk drie toegestuurd gekregen, was er één al kapot bij het uitpakken en een andere had een kraakje, die is vervangen, maar van de overige twee heeft recentelijk een tweeter opgeblazen, zonder dat ik dat veroorzaakt had, trouwens. Dit is onder garantie super verholpen door Bax-shop.

Ik heb vorige week voor het eerst deze monitor gebruikt in een acoustische setting. Vocals, acoustische gitaar en percussie. Niet alleen ikzelf maar ook de muzikanten waren zeer tevreden over het resultaat. Tijdens optreden stonden ook nog twee andere montors opgesteld maar de FM8 kon de concurentie makkelijk aan. Je zou wanneer het podium niet te breed is met twee van deze monitors alle muzikanten van voldoende geluid kunnen voorzien. Ik prefereer voor ieder muzikant een eigen monitor en zal er zeker meerdere van aan gaan schaffen. Daarnaast speelt het beperkte gewicht natuurlijk ook een rol.
