DiMarzio DP111W SDS-1 Electric Guitar Pickup

The DiMarzio DP111 SDS-1 may look like a normal single-coil pickup, but this one actually has the sound characteristics similar to old soapbar pickups. The magnet in this pickup is ceramic, but due to the large poles and spacing, it actually looks a bit more like an Alnico magnet. The magnet is a bit less powerful, making it a bit easier to bring the pickup close to your strings for higher output. The high is a bit less present, while the low is actually a bit deeper than you would expect with a single coil. The result is a round and dark sound, which can be enhanced with, for instance, True Velvet pickups in the neck position for a more sparkling sound - or an FS-1 in the middle position for a more balanced sound. The SDS-1 comes in especially handy when the sound of your bridge pickup is too sharp, but just don't make your amp work hard.
