General

This humbucker is the pumped up edition of a classic. Taking it's cues from the renowned '59, the Seymour Duncan SH-5 Custom humbucker upgrades your tone with the hefty output of a ceramic magnet and a custom coil. The trebles drip with character; the mids pack a punching, vocal presence; and the lows bear tight definition. Add it all up and you have a stomping high-gain humbucker that comes fully prepped to support drop-tunings. Couple it with a vintage-vibed SH-1 '59 at the neck to complete a solid combo.

The SH-5 Custom also comes pre-fitted with four-conductor wiring that supports a full array of different switching options so that, when soldered to the right switch, you can split the coils down the middle for a more single-coil-vibed sound, or flip the coils out of phase. In fact, with just one pickup, you have the potential to shape a wide spectrum of tonal profiles - all courtesy of just one, high-output wonder of a ceramic humbucker.

Wrote the following about Seymour Duncan SH-5 Custom (black) Humbucker

Heb deze pickup in de brugpositie geplaatst van mijn Telecaster (Modern player, HSS config) en in deze gitaar was het standaard al mogelijk om de brughumbucker te "splitten" om toch een single coil klank te krijgen. De stock pickup was daar niet zo super voor dus heb ik de SH-5 geïnstalleerd om de gitaar te upgraden.

Die gitaar klinkt nu bijna als een nieuw instrument, de humbucker is geschikt voor allerhande stijlen als je wat met je gain en volume speelt en dankzij de coilsplit kan je ook wat stratocaster klanken krijgen.

De output van deze pickup ligt wat lager dan van de SH-4 (JB) en qua EQ is er meer bass en treble aanwezig (volgens de SD website).

Ik ben zeer tevreden met deze aankoop, de pickup zit goed verpakt en er zijn bedradingsschema's meegeleverd voor verschillende mogelijke configuraties.
