General

The KC line of amps from Roland have already been adored by many keyboard players for years now. Once in a while, Roland overhaul these stage and studio favourites to keep the tech up-to-date and ensure the highest possible performance. As such, the KC-600 is basically a refreshed version of the KC-550 with the addition of a list of welcome tweaks, including an entirely new and lighter power supply unit that shaves the weight down to 29kg and a set of easy-to-install wheels.

The Roland KC-600 Keyboard Amplifier

A custom two-way speaker system and newly developed 15-inch woofer and tweeter are mounted in a Twin Bass-Reflex housing and it's this combination that not only shapes the highly detailed sound but the incredible definition in the low-end. This amp is therefore literally made to handle the subby kick of an electronic drum kit and the lowest rumbling bass pads of a synth. Four stereo input channels are provided as well as a stereo AUX input and an XLR microphone input. Meanwhile, a headphone output is included and a highly useful Sub Out for hooking up a second subwoofer as needed. A line and balanced XLR output offer excellent signal transfer to a PA and, if you need any more inputs or need a stereo monitor mix, a second KC-600 amplifier can be linked up to complete a serious setup.

Wrote the following about Roland KC-600 200W Keyboard Amplifier

L'ampli ultime du clavieriste ? Concrètement, j'ai branché : un piano numérique, un orgue et un Synthé. Il me reste une entrée mono ou stéréo supplémentaire (ligne micro ou outre) et une auxiliaire. Mes impressions ? Les 7,3 octaves du piano numérique respirent comme jamais et les timbres Hammond avec leur célèbre effet Leslie remplissent l'espace de mon studio. Quant au Synthé, ses harmoniques triturées et ses timbres venus d'ailleurs sont enfin vivants ! Une session avec une partie vocale ? Le panneau de contrôle est un véritable "couteau suisse" : le canal 1 est conçu pour une entrée micro, on oriente ou recule la bête, ajuste le gain et les effets et éventuellement un poil d'équalisation (attention ces réglages agissent sur toute les entrées) et voilà guitare acoustique ou électrique avec ampli à lampe, basse qui tabasse, cuivres ou encore une batterie, tout est possible sans perte de qualité. Le plus important pour moi, c'est de pouvoir conserver l'amplitude et l'équilibre sonore de mes instrus quelque soit le gain. Sur 2 ou sur 4,5 de réglage de gain d'entrée ligne (et 4,5 au Master), le niveau de souffle audible reste entre 25 db et 30-32 dB pour une crête de 95 db mesuré avec le piano numérique (et reste de la marge !). Quand l'oreille musicale, le sonomètre et la régie son sont tous ok... c'est que le produit doit tenir la route !

Bref, un beau bébé qui fait son poids mais reste transportable par une seule personne, malgré ses 29 kg et ses roulettes. Conclusion, je me demande encore comment je faisais ma musique sans le KC-600 ! Certes, on s'adapte à tout, mais quand on peut "s'offrir" ce niveau de qualité sonore, il n'est plus question de s'adapter mais d'oublier la technique pour s'exprimer totalement.

Fantastische versterker! Ook door de aanwezigheid van een vier kanaals stereo mixer met een gebalanceerde uitgang. Dit scheelde mij een aantal randapparatuur wat ik niet meer mee hoef te sjouwen. En de versterker heeft voldoende power. Tijdens de repetities speelde ik met de keys over de PA. Met deze versterker is dat niet eens meer nodig.
Echt een aanrader voor de doorgewinterde toetsenist (die niet met in-ear speelt..)
