Is it a keyboard? Is 't a compact digital piano? The Casio CT-S1 is a creation that sits somewhere between those two currents. This model, available in several colours, has a keyboard with 61 keys. There are not very many controls, so at first glance you might think of it as a small digital piano. Under the hood, however, the CT-S1 does have more going for it than you would expect in a typical digital piano. No hundreds of sounds, no rhythms with automatic accompaniment, but a lot of nice things you wouldn't expect for this budget.

Sounds in the Casio CT-S1

There are 61 sounds inside, and they are better than you'd expect! On the control panel you can see seven main groups, with, for example, piano, e.piano, organs and more. Each main group has four variations, allowing you to choose from contemporary or vintage, for example. Even that very famous Mellotron flute from Strawberry Fields Forever is included, as well as the synth-brass from Jump! There are even a lot of vintage synth sounds from Casio itself in this machine. Nice and old, nice and wrong, but fun! The quick calculator will have already figured out that there are 28 sounds to choose from with these keys. The other 33 are under the keyboard keys. You can choose a reverb, you can choose a specific touch sensitivity curve for the keys, and more.

A lot of nice features

Casio's adage is that you should be able to play music anytime, anywhere. This is reflected in the handle that makes it easy to take this instrument with you. Besides the included power adapter, the CT-S1 can also run on six AA batteries. That's nice if you want to jam with musicians on the street! And although the CT-S1 doesn't look like a keytar - it doesn't have a 'neck' - you can attach a normal guitar strap to it, which is nice for gigs! It has a recorder, it can interact with your computer, iOS device or Android device, and the keys are very decent. All in all, a lot of features you wouldn't expect for this budget!
