Unlike most modern condenser microphones, the WA87 has an output transformer that is responsible for subtle saturation and a light boost in the high-mid frequency. This mic guarantees the kind of in-your-face vocal recordings commonly heard in pop and rock productions, but its unique audio characteristics make suitable for mic-ing up acoustic instruments such as acoustic guitars and kits.
