Like a breath of fresh air in a world of increasingly complex multi-effects units, the Boss ME-90 unit supplies guitarists with a clean, tactile and intuitive effects-based cockpit. Rather than endlessly scrolling through menus, with this Boss offering, you can grab and twist selection knobs, hit buttons and kick switches to knead and sculpt custom effect chains into shape with uncomplicated ease.

The Boss ME-90: Compact Design & Premium Sound

The Boss ME-90 comes pre-packed with eleven AIRD amplifier emulations and sixty different effects ripped straight out of the Boss flagship: the GT-1000. Find your foundation sound in the specialised Preamp section before browsing through no less than seven effects banks, each stacked with effect variations that can be chained and triggered at the same time. While thirty-six preset patches come ready-made, your own custom patches can also be configured and saved to one of the thirty-six save slots. Then, via the set of eight multifunctional footswitches and the newly-designed expression pedal (complete with toe switch), you gain in-depth real-time control over the setup. And, for even deeper control, there's always the Boss Tone Studio app.

Fully Upgraded Control

Besides superior sound, the ease-of-use has been given a full upgrade when compared with the ME-80 that came before it. Flip between the pedalboard style control of Manual mode or select Memory mode to switch through complete patch setups. Around the back, a mini-switch can be hit to optimise the audio outputs for connection to a guitar amplifier or direct connection to a full-range sound system. An IR loader also comes built-in with space for three of your favourite impulse responses, while other useful features include a send/return loop for integrating external effect pedals - and the fact that the whole thing is a good 700 grams lighter than the ME-80.
