General

The award-winning British 1073 preamp left its distinctive mark on the sound of countless albums over the last 50+ years. With the WA273, Warm Audio offers a respectful, heartfelt tribute to this classic. The original hardware has been modelled and emulated right down to the component level. This means that every feature of the original 1073 has been faithfully reproduced. When you push it, this unit will respond with warm saturation and harmonic distortion, without having to use converters while the output control can be used to maintain balance. The WA273 has been hand-built down to the very last component and was manufactured in close collaboration with British company, Carnhill Transformers, evidenced by the included 'custom made' transformer installed in the guts of the WA273, directly reflecting the spirit of the 1073.

Wrote the following about Warm Audio WA273 2-channel microphone preamp

Heerlijke preamp, even opletten dat er een standje 'uit' op de gain knop zit, tussen 50 en 55 dB. Beetje vreemde ontwerp keuze. Gebruikt voor voice over opname met een Neumann TLM 103, mooi warm en vol geluid.

Excellent préampli stéréo tout à fait conforme aux prétentions annoncées (voir mieux connaissant très bien la référence originale). Beaucoup de "headroom", sélecteur d'impédance très efficace, des tas de fonctionnalités, je ne crois qu'on puisse trouver beaucoup mieux pour le prix actuellement. Une petite merveille !

Préampli vraiment pas très loin du Neve dont il s'inspire.C'est lourd, bien construit et surtout musical, à utiliser sur tout type de prise de son, le filtre passe haut est le bien venu, le bouton Tone aussi (changement d'impédance). A la sortie de votre carte son, colore bien le mix, pour un résultat plaisant.

Maintenant, ça n'est pas donné, mais le prix est justifié par la qualité des composants. Pour un musicien amateur comme moi, c'est presque trop beau de disposer d'un tel materiel à la maison.
