It doesn't get much rowdier and louder than this - the ESP LTD TA-604 FRX Black Satin signature model bass guitar of Slayer front man and bassist, Tom Araya. The first thin you'll notice is the heavy shape of the body, which is a lot more extreme, compared to the original version. Its black alder body is equipped with two active humbuckers and has matching black tone, volume and balance controls. A 24-fret neck makes the very lowest tones possible and if the pentagram-shaped position markers and the name 'Araya' n the 12th fret hasn't convinced you of its authenticity, the unmistakable signature on the headstock surely will.

TA-604 FRX Black Satin Tom Araya Signature: dark sounds

Araya's own bass tones are usually low, loud and dark, but once in a while, they can be clear and bright. In order to simulate that sound as closely as possible, ESP has fitted this bass with two active humbuckers in the TA-604 FRX that are adjustable with three knobs. One knob is for volume, another controls the tone, and the last is to adjust the balance. Actually, the latter functions as a blend knob to fine-tune the mix of the other two, or operate them separately. The combination of an alder body and a rosewood fretboard make this bass growl.

Deep, dark tones

It's an understatement to say this bass's body stands out. Its razor-sharp edges exude the essence of heavy metal like no other bass. This updated model looks even meaner than its predecessor, without sacrificing any playing comfort. It all starts with the slender U neck, which is made up of three plies of maple and has a rosewood fretboard with 24 extra jumbo frets. Despite the fact that there are 24 of them, this bass remains in tune thanks to a graphite headstock and bridge. This bass is designed to reach the deepest, darkest tones you and your band members can handle.
