General

Wrapped up in a vintage-flavoured, PJ-style package, the high-grade Sadowsky MetroLine 21-5 Hybrid five-string bass bears contemporary playability and comfort, and flexible, far-reaching sound. Built in Germany, this swamp-ash bodied marvel bears the same level of build quality and all of the same features as it's New York City produced cousins yet comes at a more manageable price point. In fact - according to Roger Sadowsky himself - the only difference between this model and the American-made editions is the totally solid body that replaces the hollowed-out body.

The Sadowsky MetroLine 21-5 Hybrid: Lightweight Build

While the body is totally solid, the specially selected wood used to shape it keeps the weight of this bass as low as humanly possible and here, has been combined with considered contouring and the tight and snug feel of a C-profile neck and 12 inch fretboard radius, providing fluid playability all the way up to the 21st fret. This superb model comes complete with a Portabag, a COA, a set of S-Security strap-locks, and all the necessary adjustment keys.

Flexible Stability

There is more than enough to enjoy once this bass has been jacked in. The split-single-coil in the mid-position spits that familiar P-style punch, while the single-coil at the bridge adds that distinct J-style voice to the heady PJ mix and has been positioned '60s style to provide a natural thumb-rest. But that's not all you're getting. Flip the 21-5 Hybrid from passive into active mode by popping the push-pull function of the vintage tone control pot, engage the stacked EQ pot, and you've doubled the fun. All of the hardware, meanwhile, from the light open-gear machines heads, to the quick-string-release bridge and Just-A-Nut III nut have been provided courtesy of Sadowsky, laying down astonishingly stable tuning and intonation and completing a neat and high-end five-string package.
