Designed in collaboration with jazz icon Mark Whitfield and inspired by the city that never sleeps, the D’Angelico Excel SS Soho is a stylish ode to the streets of New York. The laminated spruce top is supported by a flamed maple back and matching sides, laying down a warm and airy base for the single Kent Armstrong 'Jazzy Joe' floating mini-humbucker planted at the bridge. The result is stunning tone backed up by lush basses and articulate mids - everything you need to spin dynamic leads. This straight-up jazz-box has been built in South Korea and comes complete with a form-fitting gig bag.

The D’Angelico Excel SS Soho: Deluxe Detailing

Every bit of this semi-hollow wonder has been sensitively thought out. The headstock bears the D’Angelico logo in mother-of-pearl as well as the deco-style Excel Series Shield. Even the ebony fretboard has been richly decorated with mother-of-pearl split-block position markers and the Amaretto Burst lacquer job matches perfectly with the gold-plated hardware and the mouth-watering, five-ply ebony pickguard. While the look and sound pack plenty of swag, it's the smooth and effortless playability that really put the cherry on top of this tasty six-string cake. The flattened 16 inch fretboard radius supports a light feel beneath the fingers and couples with a full pack of twenty-two Jescar 47/104 nickel-silver frets and a Graph Tech TUSQ nut to ensure near-flawless intonation, while the Grover 509 Super Rotomatic locking tuners expertly stabilise the tuning.
