Picking up where the original GAIA left off, the Roland GAIA 2 has been brought bang-up-to-date in terms of features and design which means it even supports the Roland Cloud and is no doubt another success story.

The Roland GAIA-2

Loaded with a small army of buttons, knobs and faders, this 37-key synthesizer has it all: wavetables, a 22-voice polyphony with three oscillators per voice, extensive filters and a fairly substantial FX section that's home to no less than 53 effects. Best of all, Roland have fitted a motional pad just below the display. Controlled using the fingers, this touch-pad offers a fun, hands-on way to control synth engine parameters in addition to your LFOs and envelopes. Meanwhile, the built-in sounds are Roland-grade, so nothing has been left to chance. Pads, leads, wacky sounds...it's all there and then some, making the GAIA-2 a superb addition to any studio or live rig. Tip: be sure to pick up the purpose-made gig bag on the side if you're already thinking about taking it to gigs.

In The Cloud

The back of the Roland GAIA-2 is home to a USB-C port, USB-A port, MIDI I/O, output jacks and a pedal input, where the USB-C port doubles as a MIDI and audio interface. You're also free to plug in a Roland Cloud Connect WC-1 wireless adapter (not included) and download other synths straight to the GAIA-2 from the Cloud. In fact, the SH-101 Model Expansion pack comes included as standard, finishing a compact synthesizer that's capable of way more than meets the eye.

Voor mij mijn enigste black Friday aankoop, mooie aanbieding bij Bax.
Mooi instrument en heel makkelijk om zelf je sounds te maken.
Goede effecten en de XY pad met opname functie brengen je klanken tot leven. Ik ben aangenaam verrast door de kracht van deze machine.

De Roland Gaia 2 valt op door de hoeveelheid effecten die kunnen toegewezen worden.
De meegeleverde klanken in de presets (niet overschrijfbare), user (overschrijfbaar), en model (Roland cloud gebaseerd) zijn nogmaal een bevestiging van hoe goed Roland klanken zijn.

Maar, (ja toch een maar gevonden) de cloud gebaseerde models zijn beperkt en zijn prijzig.
Je krijgt er dan wel de authentieke klanken van die synths voor natuurlijk.

Dankzij de cadeaubon van Bax heb ik deze synth aan een zeer mooie prijs kunnen kopen.

Op vlak van aansluitmogelijkheden geen tekort, 2 usb A poorten EN een usb C poort. Roland heeft eindelijk geluisterd naar wat klanten al JAREN vragen. Natuurlijk ook DIN midi in en uit zijn voorhanden.

Wat me ook opviel is dat één van de usb A poorten kan gebruikt worden om bvb een midi controller aan te sluiten, bvb een midi toetsenbord met aftertouch. Zo kan je dit dus wel gebruiken want die mogelijkheid bied het Gaia 2 klavier niet.
Roland heeft dit wel opgelost door het xy pad die ,als je dit wenst, motion recording ondersteund.

Er zijn al een handvol 3rd party preset banken te koop en via de Roland Cloud kan je ook al een 3 of 4-tal models gebruiken mits aankoop.

Door het overzichtelijk plaatsen van de instellingen is deze synth aan te raden voor zowel de beginnende als vergevorde artiest.

Ja ik raad dit instrument zeker aan.

De vergelijking zoeken met de originele Gaia eindigd snel bij de hands-on approach en de onboard VA osc. Maar dat is een positieve veranderig. De bouwkwaliteit is meer dan redelijk en de usb-c een verademing. De bijgevoegde voeding is zelfs overbodig als je de gaia2 aansluit met usb c (power , audio en midi). Al had roland wel een usb c kabel mogen bijstoppen.

Keybed is een aangename verassing wanneer je ze vergelijkt met de laatste Korgs , natuurlijk in deze tijden mag je geen aftertouch verwachten van Roland en korg.
Gelukkig word dit goedgemaakt door de xy pad.

1 minpuntje is de filter die bij hogere resonaties de bass verliest maar dit zagen we vaker ook bij roland classics.

Sterkste punt komt van de enorme hoeveelheid fx en masterfx sectie. Hierdoor word de gaia2 een sounddesign powerhouse. (Spijtig dat een line in dan ontbreekt)

Een heel goede aanvulling op elk bestaand synth arsenaal. Klinkt als geen andere synth
