Wrote the following about Roland JU-06A Boutique Synthesizer

IMHO a very good sounding unit with a decent range of analog synth sounds for the price - which is what sold it to me.
Connectivity for sounds in/out is by stereo miniature jacks so may need to use adapters depending on your needs.
I am using a full size 49 key midi controller keyboard, via the midi-in connector, to play it as a 4 note polyphonic synth which works fine for me and saves wear and tear on the units keypad.
Arpeggiator, choruses and delay are all useful.
Volume control on back is small.
I have not looked into the sequencer yet.

Als 70-plusser heb ik in de voorbije decennia al wat instrumenten verzameld. Zo nu en dan geraak ik getriggerd om toch nog een synth aan mijn collectie toe te voegen. Mijn interesse gaat vaak uit naar vintage klanken en dan kwam JU-06A al een tijdje door mijn hoofd spoken. Ik had echter al een Deepmind 12, die is gebaseerd op een Juno en kan natuurlijk ook wel die klanken genereren. Waarom dan toch nog een JU-06A er bij halen?
Wel om de heldere layout die meehelpt om zeer snel leuke resultaten te bekomen. No-nonsence, rechttoe-rechtaan editing zonder jezelf in talloze menus en submenus te moeten verliezen. Heerlijk is dat en aan verademing. Dat hij slechts 4 stemmig is heeft me nog niet gestoord omdat ik meestal klanken van verschillende synthesizers layer.
De simpele layout van deze JU-06A heeft me meegeholpen om mijn andere synths beter te begrijpen en gebruiken.
Kortom... ik ben er heel blij mee !

uiteraard is de JU 06 een fantastisch klinkende synthesizer, dat is logisch als je weet waar ie op gebaseerd is, ik gebruik hem via midi met andere keyboards en cubase en dan is het onbegrijpelijk dat je geen andere data kan verzenden en opnemen dan program changes, je zou toch op zijn minst verwachten dat ie op een volume pedaal zou reageren, ik hoop dat Roland dit en ook andere data overdracht zal toevoegen in een update.

Het is ongelooflijk wat een dikke sound er uit deze mini Boutique komt. Weergaloze modulaties en te gek dat je kunt switchen tussen 2 van de meest iconische synthesizer aller tijden. Plug and play en via MIDI naadloos te integreren in iedere set up.

Ik heb de combi bundel K-25m toetsenbord en decksaver erbij aangeschaft zodat je makkelijk melodien kunt maken en ook lekker on the fly kunt spelen. Geweldig!

Prima machine, ga experimenteren (tweaken) en er komen werkelijk goede klanken uit! Loopt ook lekker in sync met de analoge machines en de workflow is snel onder de knie te krijgen. Niks ten nadele van het origineel of de klonen van de 606, maar deze is in mijn beleving toch echt een tikkeltje strakker in sound.

Geweldig mooie aanwinst op mijn synthesizermodules. Ik stuur alles vanuit mijn sequencers/controllers aan via midi. De JU06-A past hier perfect bij. Ook de instellingen gaan perfect over midi. De geluiden van beide types, Juno-60 en Juno-106 klinken gewelidig. De effecten zijn een mooie aanvulling. De geluiden blijken bijzonder geschikt te zijn voor Psy-trance, Drum & Bass, Syynthwave en veel andere soorten elektronische muziek. Dus veel meer dan de retro jaren 80! Ook fijn dat de midisignalen kunnen worden doorgelust. Ik zou niet meer zonder deze synthesizer willen!
