General

A second guitar is often a real must in the studio or on stage, only getting them both to the venue unscathed is often easier said than done. Mono has developed an elegant solution to this problem with the M80 Dual guitar bag, which can hold both an acoustic steel-string and an electric guitar. During the development process, Mono's goal was to offer two guitars the same protection as they could offer with the standard Mono M80 gig bag. The result is an incredibly lightweight and utterly robust hybrid guitar bag.

M80 Dual: optimal protection

Mono's patented Headlock Grip system offers a level of protection that is good enough to transport even the most valuable guitars. A handy internal strap holds the instrument securely in place during transport and supports the neck to prevent any damage as a result of a side collision, for example. On the underside of the M80 Dual are foam rubber panels that absorb shocks that may otherwise damage the strap pin. The rest of the bag is also equipped with ABS panels for full, excellent protection.

Practical design

The Mono M80 Dual is essentially two gig bags in one, separated by an ingenious zig-zag system that ensures both instruments are optimally protected. It also means that the Mono M80 Dual can just as easily hold one guitar, as well as two, and the Z-shaped design makes it easy to access each guitar individually. This bag is suitable for Dreadnoughts, most Archtops, and virtually all electric guitar models.

Wrote the following about Mono M80 Dual guitar bag for acoustic and electric guitar

Housse de conception californienne particulièrement bien pensée et à la fabrication très soignée.

Lorsqu'elle contient 2 guitares, cette housse est plutôt volumineuse, mais reste assez équilibrée et d'un poids total raisonnable. Avec une dreadnought et une Strat, plus un cordon jack, quelques partoches et accessoires, l'ensemble pèse à peine plus de 11 kg. (Je ne l'ai pas encore testé avec ma Les Paul Std à la place de ma Fender !).

Bien sûr, il ne sera pas question de courir un marathon avec cette housse sur le dos, mais pour des déplacements raisonnables en transports en commun (vu son encombrement, je vous conseille vivement de ne pas la garder sur le dos dans la rame du métro aux heures de pointe si vous ne voulez pas vous faire trop d'ennemis !) ou même en vélo urbain (j'ai testé), c'est jouable.

Reste à voir si l'investissement en vaudra la chandelle sur la durée, quant à la solidité des sangles soumises aux tensions quotidiennes sur les coutures et aux sollicitations répétées sur les attaches dues aux secousses de la marche. Heureusement, les boucles sont épaisses et semblent être en acier et non en alliage ou en plastique, comme sur la plupart des autres housses qui rendent l'âme au bout de 3 à 6 mois !
