General
The Mackie ProFX16v2 is an analogue mixer with everything on it. Besides an arsenal of features and connectors, it's built to last and is equipped with remarkably quiet Vita preamps. Mackie has a reputation to uphold, which is clear when we look at this professional range of mixing consoles in their ProFXv2 series. Compared to the ProFX12v2, this Mackie ProFX16v2 has four channel strips, two subgroups, a second monitor output and compressors on four of the mono inputs.
ProFX16v2: channel strips
At the core of this mixing console, you'll find 10 microphone channels, two of which can also be used as a stereo input. It also features two more stereo input channels, the second of which can be re-routed to USB so an incoming stereo stream via an audio interface can be linked to a channel strip. Just as practical is the 7-band equalizer and the 3-band equalizers per channel with adjustable mid-ranges for accurate fine-tuning. In addition, there are 16 great-sounding included digital effects!
Subgroups
Creating subgroups is a very handy function on larger mixers like the ProFX16v2. If you've amplified a drum kit with several microphones and want to turn the whole set down, you don't want to do that with four separate faders, for instance. This mixer lets you link the drum channels together on subgroups 1/2 or 3/4 for instance, so you can adjust the entire kit's sound with just two faders. Other handy options are the two monitor outputs, the control room output and the compressors on channels 5 through 8.

De layout van de knoppen en schuivers is heel overzichtelijk opgesteld. De setup van enkele microfoons was nice and easy. De effecten zijn niet overmatig, maar de nuttige effecten zitten er op en de andere zijn weggelaten. Mooi apparaat. Zeer tevreden, maar nog niet alles uitgezocht.
