The DiMarzio Ultra Jazz Set is a set of bass guitar pickups for a J-style bass guitar. The pickups reproduce a wide frequency spectrum. The low frequencies sound thick and deep. The high frequencies sound sparkling and percussive. The mid frequencies sound as they should on a Jazz Bass. With these pickups, your Jazz Bass purrs like it should.

No noise

A well-known problem with the single coils found in a J-style bass is that there is a noise in them. With DiMarzio's Ultra Jazz Set, this is a thing of the past. Because the pickups consist of two coils, each picking up a pair of two strings, the noise-suppressing effect of a humbucker is created - an old-school sound with modern benefits.

Wrote the following about DiMarzio DP149BK Ultra Jazz Set bass guitar pickup

De klank is mooi en open maar je mist wel wat 'energie' in het laag en laag/mid. Ik heb ze in een MIM Jazz Bass zitten met een maple neck en ze kletteren er vrolijk op los.
Wat vooral een uitdaging is, is de instelling van de hoogte van de pickups. Wanneer je de specs van Fender aanhoudt, heb je een hoorbaar volumeverschil tussen de E/G- en de A/D-snaar omdat de pole-pieces vlak staan en niet in de radius van de toets van de bas. In tegenstelling tot de Model J's (BK-123) zijn deze niet in te stellen.
Ik weet niet of ik blijf proberen om het hele spul in balans te krijgen of dat ik uiteindelijk tóch voor iets anders ga kiezen. Misschien iets actiefs; Bartolini, EMG, Delano..?
