Audix DP7 Set of Drum Microphones

General

The Audix DP7 is a drum microphone set for serious drummers and sound engineers with high standards. It consists of seven microphones - one for the snare, two for toms, one for the floor tom and bass drum, and two overheads to give total drum amplification as well as the natural, combined and refined sound of various microphones. The Audix DP7 set is designed for use on-stage as well as in the studio. Practical accessories like an aluminium case, windscreens for the overheads and microphone clips for all microphones, are also included.

Audix DP7: Kick and Snare

Amplifying or recording more extreme or complex instruments like a full drum kit and doing it justice, can be quite a task. The bass drum and snare need to sound natural and feature enough punch and tone, without causing any listening fatigue. The D6 kick drum mic is a user-friendly microphone that registers the lowest possible range - starting at 30 Hz onwards. For the snare, an i5 snare microphone is included, which precisely registers the snare's timbre without picking up too much of the other drums. The life of the snare's attack and resonance are registered by the i5, which is versatile in itself and can be used for other instruments. 

Toms and Overheads

The D2 overhead is attuned to suspended toms and the D4 to a floor tom. Both feature a hyper-cardioid pickup pattern and wide frequency response for natural-sounding toms, without tiring resonances in the mids (boomy sound). For the overall picture and a bit of added 'air' in the mix, you can use the two Audix ADX51 condensers. These can be aimed accurately, and are sensitive enough to pick up a little of everything and add it the mix with the two overheads, or use them as added atmospherics.
