Amplifying or recording a snare requires a special microphone that can handle extreme SPLs! To this end, Avantone have developed the dynamic ADM. It has a compact housing, so that it's not hard to avoid! Sound-wise, it can be compared to renowned snare microphones, but the low frequencies are better picked up and the trebles are reproduced in a pleasant way as well. Avantone's years of experience have gone into the development of this unique microphone. You can enjoy extensive EQ curves and a solid snare sound with this Avantone ADM!

Avantone DM snare microphone: applications

In order to counter annoying ambient noises, Avantone include a shock mount with this ADM. Handling noise (which is obviously always present with a moving snare) is countered in this way. A practical fastening clip is also included, so that the microphone can easily be mounted to the rim of the drum. This Atom is not just fit for amplifying toms, you can also use it to amplify brass instruments and percussion. All in all, this is a versatile microphone!

Wrote the following about Avantone Pro ADM snare microphone

These are lovely mics. The first thing that strikes you about this mic is how robustly made everything is. The mic itself is metal bodied and feels very solid. Great colour too. I was also pleasantly surprised to discover that the shockmount (a simple but clever design) is also made of metal. The included clamp to fit it to the hoop of the snare is also heavy duty and well engineered. I found it gave a particularly secure fit on cast hoops, but does work well on triple flanged hoops too. I've just been trying this out at a recorded band rehearsal and was very pleased with the results. I have an SM57 too and this seems to give more output and perhaps more of a bite to the sound. It's certainly a good sound and excellent value for money. Would really recommend these mics.
