General

Sometime during the mastering process, you will want to use an imager. With that effect, you can widen or narrow the stereo image. Effectively, you add a percentage of one side to the other (e.g. 10% right added to left), and with that you can make a signal more mono, or make it a lot more stereo. This works best if you have multiple bands. You can then make the bass more mono while making the treble a bit wider. A plug-in that lets you do this is IK Multimedia T-RackS Quad Image. Because this is an effect you're actually always going to use, Quad Image is an indispensable piece of software.
