General
The iConnectivity iConnect AUDIO4+ is a high-grade audio interface that can do much more than you'd expect. Its most distinctive feature is probably its double USB connector. Connect a PC, Mac or iOS device to each of these two ports, and both devices can be used simultaneously. It's even possible to freely exchange audio and MIDI channels. The 24-bit/96kHz interface also offers a stand-alone mode, and comes with a Lightning cable, a USB cable and a power adapter.
iConnect AUDIO4+: routing with iConfig
Seasoned producers and musicians will find plenty of applications for the iConnect AUDIO4+'s routing function. Connect a MIDI keyboard, microphone, guitar or synthesizer, for instance, and you're able to transmit the signal to both your Mac or PC and your iOS device. It doesn't end there, however. Some iOS effect apps aren't available for PC and Mac, but with this interface, there's no reason to let that stop your creative flow. Simply run an audio signal through your iOS app, and then use the AUDIO4+ to automatically transfer it to a DAW track on your PC/Mac. Using the free iConfig software, you'll be able to create the exact setup you need.
Connectors
On the front of the AUDIO4+, you'll find four microphone inputs that are supported by high-quality preamplifiers. Two of these combo inputs double as line inputs, the other two as Hi-Z inputs for instruments like guitar or bass guitar. On the back of the interface there are four balanced line outputs for your monitor speakers. The external sound card also features a headphone output with independent mix, as well as MIDI IN/OUT. Using a powered USB hub, it's possible to connect up to eight USB-MIDI devices to the AUDIO4+'s USB host input, and the interface's practical touch screen enables you to control the main functions.

Prima product en ik kan 2 computers tegelijkertijd aansluiten en ook iets af laten spelen.
Het is een erg veelzijdig apparaat mits hij werkt. Al vanaf het begin was het moeilijk in stelllen van de settings van de interface erg ingewikkeld. Met de nieuwe driver en config programma komt er na enige tijd een irritante piep over de output en dan is er ook niks anders te horen. Dit kan goed gaan mits hij niet te hard staat. Ook bij het aanzetten van de computer detecteert de pc niet altijd automatische de interface. Dit heb ik vanaf het begin nooit op kunnnen lossen. Je moet er in ieder geval wel een paar uur voor gaan zitten heb je alles goed ingesteld met meerdere opties.

Om geluid digitaal over en weer te sturen, van en naar twee computers, of Macs, ook iPad, wordt ondersteund.

Moet ik gewoon zeggen, bijna perfect.
Heel soms moet ik de iPad air af en aankoppelen om hem opnieuw aan te koppelen,
Maar volgens mij is dat alleen, als ik hem opnieuw gepatched heb.
Hou rekening met de sample rate, zorg dat die overal gelijk is.
Anders krijg je die vervelende bijgeluiden,
Het geluid is mooi, en zuiver.
Het instellen vereist wel wat inzicht, en geduld.

Op het podium werk ik met alleen een synthesizer en iPad. De aangesloten iPad blijft dan opgeladen, ook belangrijk. Ik mix het geluid voor mezelf in een monitor mix op de hoofdtelefoonuitgang (ook gebruikmakend van de vier ingangen). Via de vier gebalanceerde Jack uitgangen lever ik het geluid voor de FOH mix. Je kunt met de software dit vooraf netjes instellen en bewaren in de interface zelf, zodat je 'm zonder PC kunt gebruiken. Met de volumeknop kan de zowel de (analoge) in- als uitgangsniveaus regelen.
De software zou ook als iPad app beschikbaar zijn, maar volgens de site werkt dat nog met de iPad Air 2. Dat heb ik nog niet geprobeerd. Ik merk wel dat er hard wordt gewerkt aan goede ondersteuning; de site van iconnectivity heeft aardig wat extra informatie. Spreekt elkaar nog wel wat tegen hier en daar. Daarom 4 sterren.

Eén minpuntje (en daarom 4 ipv. 5 sterren): de software die fabrikant iConnnectivity beschikbaar stelt om de iCA4+ te kunnen 'beheren' (mixer-instellingen, routing van in- en uitgangen en USB-kanalen, etc.) is duidelijk nog niet 100% stabiel ('er wordt aan gewerkt!') en de beloofde (gratis) iPad-app die dergelijke instellingen vanaf de iPad mogelijk moet maken is nog niet klaar... Ook de handleiding voor dit toch wel tamelijk ingewikkelde apparaat (vanwege de vele mogelijkheden) laat qua duidelijkheid (nog) te wensen over. Met hun website (http://www.iconnectivity.com/iConnectAUDIO4plus) + forum + blog doet iConnectivity duidelijk wel z'n best om de gebruiker zoveel mogelijk van de ontwikkelingen rond dit nog nieuwe en revolutionaire product op de hoogte te houden.
